Machine Shops consist of CNC machine shops, screw machine shops, machine manufacturing shops, and machine job shops. Machine Shops, also known as job shops, are businesses where fixed or permanent machinery or equipment is used in the custom removal of material to fabricate a finished part. Machine shops consist of machines where materials, especially metals, are cut and formed by machine tools for specific engineering requirements. Generally machine shop jobs are low volume using machine tools, such as lathes (including computer numerically controlled), automatic screw machines and machines for boring, grinding, and milling. Machine Shops provide an array of different services, such as broaching, deburring, grinding, honing, and milling. Other capabilities include turning, lapping, boring, etching, and trepanning. Machine shops manufacture parts out of a variety of materials such as plastics, aluminum, brass, bronze, and steel.
